5 Ways to Push Yourself Harder When You Exercise

how to make exercise harder

Whether you've made a goal to exercise more or want to improve the effectiveness of your exercises, now is as good a time as any to start your path to a new you. The trouble with exercise, like dieting, is that the novelty and drive wear off quickly, and you find yourself back in the same situation as before. Unfortunately, there is no quick answer for becoming a fitness enthusiast. It takes a lot of effort and commitment. Here are some tried and tested ways to keep on track and improve your workout routines so you can live a healthy life and continue to make healthy choices.

Drink plenty of water, even when you're not exercising

When you're exercising, your body won't perform as well as it should if you're dehydrated. Make sure you drink plenty of water so you can get the most out of your workout. Not only that, but if you stay hydrated, your body will recover from your workout far faster than if you are dehydrated. It's understandable that drinking water can become monotonous, so why not try drinking flavoured water to keep things exciting for your taste buds? It's important to drink plenty of water even when you're not exercising to help your body repair and prevent it from becoming dehydrated.

It doesn't matter where you are, you can always exercise

Keep in mind that you can work out practically anyplace and at any time. It also doesn't matter if you're at work. When you're standing, you can jog on the spot, and when you're seated, you can conduct leg, arm, and buttock workouts. You could, among other things, jog with your pram while out strolling with your baby. There are plenty of strollers these days that are perfect for working out when you've got your baby, so there really is no excuse not to try and fit in more exercise.

Try out new exercises

People abandon their fitness habits for a variety of reasons, one of which is boredom. Going to the gym is a terrific way to stay in shape, but if it becomes tedious, you'll find yourself looking for excuses not to attend. Make it a point to do different exercises on a regular basis so you're always thrilled to see what you'll be doing the next time you work out. You'll also discover exercises that are more effective for you and better target your problem areas. Whether it's bodyweight movements, resistance bands, or adding dumbells to your routine, mixing things up will keep workouts engaging and challenge your muscles in new ways.

Push yourself to new limits

Once you've established a regular workout regimen, you can start setting goals for yourself to achieve. To really amp up the impact of your workouts, make sure to push yourself to new limits when you're exercising. For instance, if you've been doing 20 minutes of exercise on the treadmill, try 30 minutes. You'll get to where you want to be in no time if you add a minute each time, and you'll also notice your fitness levels improving faster than before. Push yourself with your exercise routine this year and see how much of a difference it makes!
