It’s a long way from the island of Sardinia in Italy to Southern California, and no one knows better than Dr. Franco Columbu.
From humble beginnings, Dr. Columbu has gone from villager to boxing champion, to international bodybuilding superstar, to entrepreneur, to Doctor of Chiropractic and most recently to actor and film producer.
Dr. Columbu has won every major title in both bodybuilding and weightlifting as well as setting records in powerlifting … an unusual achievement.
He is a two-time Mr. Olympia, the most prestigious and lucrative title in bodybuilding and has been Mr. Universe and Mr. World, among others.
With firsthand experience of the necessity of chiropractic in his personal and professional lives, Dr. Columbu is an authority on sports medicine and kinesiology and has applied his knowledge to several books, including “Weight Training and Bodybuilding: A Complete Guide for Young Athletes” (with Dr. Richard Tyler, DC); “Franco Columbu’s Complete Book of Bodybuilding” (with a foreword by Arnold Schwarzenegger); and “The Bodybuilder’s Nutrition Book” (with Lydia Fragomeni).
He received is DC degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1978 and has just been recognized by them as “2003 Alum of the Year”.
His film appearances include the famous documentary “Pumping Iron”, “Conan the Barbarian”, “Running Man”, and “Terminator”. He also starred and produced the action features “Beretta’s Island” (with an appearance by Arnold Schwarzenegger), “Doublecross” and his latest “Ancient Warriors”, which has just been released in the US on Video and DVD.
Dr. Columbu resides in Brentwood with his wife Debbie and his daughter Maria and maintains his practice Personalized Chiropractic Care in West Los Angeles.
